The History of Delhi

After the demise of Shah Jahan’s successor, Aurangzeb, the decline of the Mughal Empire began, and post a series of wars between the Marathas, Sikhs, and the British, and shifting powers between the three, Delhi was ultimately captured by the British East India Company which began a direct rule in the country. The British also formed the inner city called New Delhi which was designed by Edwin Lutyens.
